Dab Nails

How to use titanium dab nail

  • Add water to the chamber of the dab ring
  • Season the nail
  • Prep the dab
  • Heat the nail
  • Wait until hot and add oil onto the nail
  • Inhale into the mouthpiece
  • Exhale away from the mouthpiece

How to dab with a titanium nail

  • You need a bong, a titanium nail, a torch, a dab pick, and wax
  • Make sure there’s butane in the torch
  • Take torch, heat the nail to the desired temperature
  • Take dab tool, touch wax an hot titanium nail as you inhale

How to clean a titanium dab nail

The Salt Scrub Method

  • Can be used with salt water or rubbing alcohol.
  • Boil water until the salt dissolves.
  • Take water off stove and put nail in solution, leaving it to soak for 10 minutes.
  • Remove the nail and scrub off any residue that remains.

What is an enail?

  • The enail replaces your torch, which is usually a butane lighter or butane torch.
  • It is an electronic heating cool used for dabbing cannabis oils.
  • Replaces the butane torch, which doesn’t offer a consistent temperature.
  • Allows you to choose the exact temperature you want to have, creating a consistent taste.
  • Keeps the heat consistent so you can keep on dabbing without having to reheat anything.

What is an enail dab?

An enail dab is when you dab with the enail tool.

We do this to create a consistent temperature when dabbing a cannibas concentrate.

If it’s too cold, the dab can pool at the base of the nail. This translates to no vapor.

If it’s too hot, the dab will taste and smell like melted plastic. The dab becomes burnt and then everything tastes awful

What temp should my enail be?

  • The rule of thumb is to experiment with different temperatures to see what works.
  • Every concentrate may be different when it comes to temperatures.
  • A low temperature dab is usually good between 600 and 710°F.
  • Dabbing at a low temperature can better preserve the oil.
  • It enhances the flavor of the THC, giving you a powerful hit and a nice taste.
  • If you’re experimenting with a low-temp dab, use a carb cap. This will produce more vapor. The medium temp for a low-temp dab is 700°F.
  • High temperature dabbing is anything over 720°F. However, at this point, you aren’t vaping anymore, you’re smoking.

How much are enails?

  • Enail range in price based on quality and if they’re analog or digital.
  • The low end enails are about $150US. These are analog units.
  • The higher end enails can cost well over $700. These enails are digital.
  • The premium digital enails can cost over $1,000 at the moment.

How to use enail

  • First, you have to set it up.
  • Organize all the things that came in the box.
  • Fill up the rig with water (up to the level you want)
  • You put the nail on the rig and check that it’s working
  • Put the coil on the nail and make sure to run cable neatly so there’s no risk of it snagging.
  • Plug the coil into the enail box.
  • Plug it into the wall and then into the enail box.
  • Turn on the power and set the temperature to how you want it.
  • There are arrows on the box display.
  • The rule of thumb is 710F but see what works best for you.
  • Let the enail get to the temperature you’ve set and let it stay at this temperature for 2 minutes. This will evenly heat up the whole nail.
  • You’re now ready to dab. Put some of the cannabis concentrate on top of the oil.

How does an enail work?

  • There is a heating box that warms up based on the temperature you’ve set.
  • There is a coil that heats up.
  • There is a nail on top of the coil, which is heated by the coil.
  • The nail transfers heat to the banger through conduction.
  • Conduction is the description of the hot surface heating up another surface through direct contact.
  • You, as the user, use your rig to put the concentrated cannabis oil on top and enjoy the vaping experience.

How to clean a titanium enail

  • You can clean it with salt water.
  • It is a natural cleaning solution and safe to use on titanium.
  • You can also use rubbing alcohol.
  • Submerge your titanium enail into rubbing alcohol (ISO) or a salt water solution.
  • To make the salt water, you’ll boil water and put about 1 tablespoon of salt into it. This is going to dissolve the salt. Cool water down before putting the titanium enail into the solution.
  • With the rubbing alcohol, you can just add 1 tablespoon into water. No need to boil it.
  • With either solution, let is soak for about 10 minutes.
  • Scrub the enail of any residue.

How to clean a dab nail

  • To keep your dab nail clean, you’ll want to do this often. In fact, it’s probably best to do this every time you’ve finished dabbing.
  • This will keep the taste fresh and your dab nail from aging.
  • First, you want to use a Q-Tip to clean out bucket after you’ve dabbed.
  • Dip the Q-Tip into rubbing alcohol.
  • Clean out inside of the bucket, banger, or dab nail.

How hot should a dab nail be?

  • Studies are showing that high temperature dabbing can be detrimental to your health.
  • The range you should be shooting for is between 350°F and 400°F.
  • If you go above 400°F, you’ll see signs of combustion.
  • This will rise if you go higher in temperature.
  • Studies have found that high temperatures can expose you to toxic chemicals that cause cancer. Also, your cannabis oil can burn and end up tasting terrible.
  • Rule of thumb then is keep is around 350°F for max taste and safety.

How to heat dab nail

  • You want to take your hand torch to heat up the nail.
  • Make sure the flame of your torch is pointed away from the dab rig.
  • If the flame comes into contact with the dab rig, heat can cause the glass to break.
  • Heat the nail until it’s so hot, it goes red.
  • Wait for the nail to stop glowing red (should take under a minute).
  • Now you’re ready to take a dab.
  • Keep in mind that a low temperature dab may not be hot enough to vaporize the wax but not each that you’ll be left with black residue

How to use dab rig with quartz nail

  • Put your quartz dab nail into the water pipe or the dab rig’s joint (depending on your unit).
  • Heat your quartz nail until it starts to glow. The brightness is coming from oils that were already on your nail from a time you used it before.
  • When the nail is completely heated, stop heating it up and let it cool down a bit.
  • Don’t heat the whole length of your nail or you could damage it.
  • You can use concentrate or oil on your quartz nail.
  • Let the concentrate or oil burn away before you use it.
  • When you’ve seasoned your quartz nail, you just need to clean it often.
  • Use a cotton swab to wipe away oils and concentrates while your quartz nail is warm still. It’s easier to clean when it’s warm.
  • The emphasis on cleaning the quartz nail is because it’s porous so oils can seep into it and then harden. This can reduce the life span of your nail. Best to give it a quick clean after every dabbing session.

How to season a quartz dab nail

  • If you’ve ever seasoned one of those old school cast-iron skillets, you could compare the prep of your quartz nail as the same kind of process.
  • If you’re not sure what I’m talking about, it’s all about a porous surface and how you can use it to make things taste better if you properly season the nail.
  • Basically, the porous surface will absorb the oils you use on it. The more you use it, the more you’ll be seasoning it to taste.
  • By seasoning your quartz nail, you get rid of dirt or residue that occurred from the manufacturing.
  • Seasoning is the first thing you should do as it sanitizes the nail so it’s safe to use.
  • Put your quartz dab nail into the water pipe or the dab rig’s joint (depending on your unit).
  • Heat your quartz nail until it starts to glow. The brightness is coming from oils that were already on your nail from a time you used it before.

How to use titanium dab nail

  • You want to first put some water in the chamber of the dab rig.
  • Make sure to first season your titanium dab nail. This is going to get rid of any unwanted residue that occurred during the manufacturing process.
  • With the dab tool, you’re going to pick up a small amount of cannabis concentrate. Pick up the equivalent of a small nailhead worth of concentrate. Set it aside.
  • Heat your rig with a torch. You want to heat the nail or banger until it’s so hot, it turns red.
  • Let it cool to your preferred temperature. This might take some time to find the right temperature so play around with it.
  • To help you along, if the wax melts and sizzles, pops, or creates a bunch of cloud, your dab is likely way too hot. If you wax melts slowly or doesn’t melt at all, you let it get too cool.
  • The rule of thumb is the vapor should be thin but not so hot that it burns your throat. You should get a lot of flavor due to vaporizing the terpenes. This is the perfect temperature achievement.
  • Press dab to the inside of the banger or nail as you inhale vapor.
  • Cover the cab cap to help you keep the heat.
  • If you want a vapor that has more cloud, you can melt the wax at a higher temperature. For greater flavor, go with a low temperature dab.

How to dab with a titanium nail

  • Add water to the chamber of the dab ring.
  • Blow into the downstem to make sure you can make the water bubble. If you can’t, pour some out.
  • Season your nail first. They have trace elements of metals from the manufacturing process. You don’t want to inhale that into your lungs. Also, it doesn’t taste great. Seasoning a nail fills the pores with carbon from the burnt oils. This prevents leaching of the metals.
  • To season, put your titanium nail in the rig. Heat it up with your hand torch until it goes red hot. Use the dabber to put the oil concentrate on the nail’s head. Let the oil fully coat the nail. Use tongs to take the nail off and put it into a bowl of water. Repeat at least three more times before you use it.
  • Take the dabber (the want) and pick up some concentrate. Set aside.
  • Heat your nail. Make sure the flame is pointed away from the dab rig or you could heat it and crack the glass. You want to heat until the nail is red hot. Remove heat from nail and wait for it to stop glowing.
  • How long you wait for the nail to cool down is an art form in itself. This is something you’ll have to play with to see what timing works for you. If it’s too hot or too cold, you won’t get the optimum taste or vapor. Wait at least 10 seconds or all the way up to 30 seconds.
  • Use the dabber with the oil on it and place on the nail. Do this slowly by rubbing the end of the wand and making sure you hit all the interior edges of the nail. As you do this, pull air through the chamber. This is going to make the water bubble and vapor will be produced.
  • Vapor will fill the glass and the concentrate will melt. Keep on inhaling until there is no more vapor in the chamber of the dab rig.
  • Make sure to clean your dab and nail right after use. Do this by taking the hand torch and heating the end of the wand that was in contact with the wax. This will melt away residue. Wipe with an alcohol swab. This is way easier to do when it’s warm.

How much is a dab nail

  • A dab nail varies based on quality.
  • There are quite a few that cost about $30.
  • They can be well over $100 for something more quality.
  • Keep in mind that a good quartz nail will preserve the flavor better than any other material.
  • These can be more expensive but for those who really want the best flavor, this is the way to go.

How to dab wax with a glass nail

  • The most important thing to note is that concentrates are potent. A little goes a long way.
  • Take your dabber, which can be made from metal or glass. A small dose isn’t going to be much more than the size of a crumb.
  • Set up your rig and put the concentrate on the dab.
  • You will have heated up your nail until it’s red hot and then let it cool down.
  • Put the glass dome over the nail. Let it cool for about 45 seconds.
  • Take the dabber with your concentrate and apply it right onto the nail inside the dome. Make sure you really coat the nail, especially on the interior of it.
  • Inhale slowly and rotate the dabber tip on the nail. This will prevent you from wasting any of the oil that is stuck to the dabber.

How to use a dab rig with a glass nail

  • You want to take the dabber, which can be made from glass as well and pick up a little bit of concentrate or oil.
  • Put it aside.
  • Heat your glass nail with a butane torch until it is so hot, it’s red.
Put the glass dome over the nail and wait until it cools.
  • The time depends on your individual needs and the concentration or oil itself. You may want to play around with the time. Anywhere from 10-45 seconds is the rule of thumb.
  • Take your dabber and apply the concentrate on the glass nail.
  • Make sure that it’s distributed well around the nail.
  • Inhale through the mouthpiece.
  • Exhale and repeat.

What is the best e nail for dabs

  • E nails (electronic nails) are quite a lot more than a normal nail or dome-less nail. The investment is well worth it if you’re a serious dabber though.
  • The enail cuts out the dome and torch, creating a safer experience and you also have total control over the temperature of your nail.
  • A quartz nail is considered the best enail material to enhance the flavor.
  • Brand wise, the ERRL Gear Quartz Domeless nail is right on top but there are more as well.
  • Smoke Cartel domeless quartz dab nail comes highly recommended.
  • Another good brand with a titanium nail option is the Oil Pan domeless titanium nail.

How to clean metal dab nail

  • Any rig you get is going to experience spills and a sticky residue build up so it’s important to clean it often.
  • One method is the torching method. It’s one of the easiest ways to clean a metal dab nail. You just light up the torch and heat your nail up. The torch burns away any excess oil or concentrate on the nail.
  • The water method has a few more steps. You heat your nail until it’s red and then put it in water that’s at room temperature. Let it sit for about 10 minutes. Remove with tons. If there’s further residue, scrub it.
  • The salt method is also a useful way to clean your nail. Boil water and let salt dissolve in it. Put your nail into the solution for 10 minutes. Remove the nail with your tongs and scrub off any residue that might be left on it.
  • The ISO method is the use of rubbing alcohol. Put the nail in ISO and let it sit. Remove and scrub any debris that’s left over.
  • With the ISO, you can also dip a Q-Tip into ISO and clean your nail by dabbing the solution on it with a Q-Tip. Scrub is necessary.

How to clean ceramic nail dab

  • The good news is that cleaning a ceramic nail dab is easier than cleaning titanium
  • The best solution is Isopropyl alcohol (ISO) and salt.
  • Pour enough rubbing alcohol into a container that you can soak the nail.
  • Mix in 4-5 tablespoons of salt.
  • Seal the container while the nail is still inside.
  • Shake the container.
  • For better results, take salt and push into hard to reach spots on the dab nail. This can better loosen the resin.
  • Then let it soak for at least 30 minutes and up to 60 minutes
  • Then rinse with warm water.
  • Don’t rinse with water that is too cold or too hot, this could cause a quartz nail to break.
  • The rinsing process should get rid of any resin.
  • If it doesn’t, take a Q-tip or paper clip to it. Chip away at the resin until it loosens and falls off.
  • Let it dry fully before using again.

Are ceramic nails good for dabbing?

Well, ceramic nails are food grade and safe based on all levels of manufacturing.

The downside is that ceramic nails will take longer to heat than titanium.

Ceramic nails stay at a good temperature for dabbing (over a minute) past the time you’ve heated it.

In a cold environment, ceramic nails are excellent.

One of the downsides is their fragility. They can crack or shatter quite easily.

They are vulnerable to quick temperature changes. If you expose it to really cold or really hot too quickly, they can shatter.

They offer a more robust flavor than other materials.

Can you clean a ceramic dab nail?

  • Yes, you can clean a ceramic dab nail.
  • Do so with more caution than you would with a titanium nail.
  • They clean up very well but don’t soak in super hot or super cold water.
  • It is safe to let them soak for a long period of time.
  • Don’t shake the container when you put the nail in a solution. Just gently roll it around instead.
  • A ceramic dab nail is fragile so follow steps you’d take with a titanium nail but do everything much gentler.
  • You can use salt or rubbing alcohol.
  • If you need to take stubborn resin off after you’ve finished soaking, do so with a Q-tip that has been dipped in rubbing alcohol.

How hot to get ceramic nail dab

  • A big butane torch can heat up your ceramic nail in less than a minute. A smaller torch can take up to 2 minutes.
  • The thickness of the ceramic will have an impact on heating the nail. It can take longer to heat than a thinner one.
  • The best method is to use a laser thermometer gun so you can take the temperature of the nail as you’re heating it up.
  • Ceramic nails aren’t going to change color like a quartz nail does. If you overheat it, you could crack it.
  • The perfect heat with a ceramic nail dab is a lower temperature of 300-400F. If you like dabbing with high temperature, don’t go hotter than 800 F. This is the absolute max.
  • Effects of the concentrate are stronger the hotter you go.
  • Make sure you let your ceramic nail cool down properly to avoid combustion of your concentrate. It should take no more than 30 seconds to cool.

How to use dab rig with quartz nail

  • To start, you need a dab rig, the wand (dabber), Q-Tip, dab nail, hand torch, bowl of water, tongs, and oil concentrate.
  • Put water into the chamber of the dab rig.
  • Season your nail before usage. This burns off any toxic materials from the manufacturing process. It also fills pores with carbon, which prevents leaching.
  • Prep your dab or the wand. This is where you’re going to pick up a little bit of concentrate. Set aside.
  • Heat the nail up. You’ll take your torch and heat up the nail. Keep the flame away from the dab rig. The heat could crack the glass. When the nail is at the desired temperature, wait for 30-45 seconds. With a titanium nail, you’ll heat it until it’s red hot.
  • Put oil on the nail once it’s at the right temperature. You can play around with the temperature, which will determine the taste and potency of the concentrate.
  • When you dab the oil on with your want, make sure you contain the oil around the interior edges of the nail. As you do this, pull air through the chamber. Your water should bubble and vapors will produce.
  • Inhale through the mouthpiece. Exhale.
  • Make sure you clean the wand after use.

How to season a quartz dab nail

  • When you season, you’re making the dabbing experience more enjoyable.
  • The surface is porous and when you season, you’re letting all the concentrate or oil seep into the material of the nail. This is going to give you a better taste. It also gets rid of dirt and residue.
  • It makes the nail safe to use and sanitizes. Make sure you season before you use it.
  • Put your nail into the water pipe of dab rig’s joint.
  • Heat the nail until it’s hot.
  • When the nail is totally heated, stop heating it up with the torch and give it time to cool.
  • Make sure you don’t heat up the whole length of the nail. You could damage the joint.
  • Add your concentrate or oil if you have a titanium nail. This is actually essential. You don’t have to do it with a quartz nail but you can if you want to.
  • Let the concentrate burn away. Don’t smoke it.

How to dab with a quartz nail

  • Put your quartz dab nail into the water pipe of dab rig’s joint.
  • Turn on your torch and make sure to aim it right at the nail. Don’t heat up the joint or you could damage it.
  • You want to heat it until the nail becomes red hot. The brightness of the red comes from oxidized oil from the times you’ve used it before. The first time it won’t be so vibrant but will increase in vibrancy the more you use it.
  • When it’s red hot, you’ll stop heating it and let it cool a bit.
  • This is sort of an acquired taste so you’ll have to see what temperature works for the concentrate or oil you have. It’s also a personal preference.
  • Take the dabber with concentrate or oil product right onto the nail (inside the dome).
  • Inhale slowly through the mouthpiece.

Can I use oven cleaner on my quartz dab nail?

  • The quick answer is no. This is not recommended.
  • The process that the quartz dab nail is involved in would cause you to inhale over cleaner through your lungs. This is never a good idea.
  • There are easier, safer ways to clean your quartz dab nail.
  • If you clean your quartz dab nail consistently, it should be easy to get resin off.
  • Oven cleaner is extremely toxic.
  • You should never use bleach or acid-based cleaning products. Some oven cleaners are acid-based.
  • Seeing as you wouldn’t use abrasive tools on a quartz dab nail, this would include an abrasive solution like oven cleaner.
  • The better alternative is distilled water or 99% ISO alcohol.

Can quartz dab nails break?

  • Quartz nails are made of the same glass that most watches have.
  • They are not glass so they don’t break as easily but they are still breakable.
  • Quartz nails can certainly shatter.
  • They shatter if you heat them up or cool them down too quickly.
  • They can handle higher temperatures than glass without breaking but are still vulnerable.
  • Make sure to heat it up slowly. They can handle a lot of heat just not too quickly.
  • Don’t ever throw cold water on them after they’ve been heated up. Let the quartz nail cool on it’s own.

How do they make quartz dab nails?

  • Quartz was originally an alternative to titanium and ceramic nails. Now, it’s considered the must-have item for dabbing rig pieces.
  • It is made with Silicon Dioxide (SiO2). It is a clear-fused quartz or silica fused together. It created a solid material with silicon and oxygen in it.
  • It is much like traditional glass but quartz only has the two materials whereas glass contains more.
  • To make fused quartz, silica sand and quartz crystals are melted down.
  • This is what gives a quartz dab nail it’s ability to conduct high heat. It is often used in lab-grade materials because of this.
  • The quartz dab nails are melted and molded to the shape that they need to be for you to best enjoy your dabbing experience.
  • A quartz nail preserves terpenes as they can keep a lower temperature for longer. This creates a robust taste when dabbing.

How long to heat double wall quartz dab nail?

  • A quartz banger nail and a dab torch is needed.
  • You may also wish to control temperature with a digital e-nail to get the heat you want.
  • This is dependent on each person.
  • When you start dabbing, you may find that you torch concentrates or underheat the nail. You’ll get the hang of it and start heating optimally after a few tries.
  • If you don’t have a digital e-nail, try heating it up for 30 seconds as a rule of thumb.
  • If you’re in a cold room or outside in cold climates, consider heating for an additional 10 seconds.
  • The double wall quartz dab nail heats up quickly.
  • Another thing you’ll want to know is that you should wait about a minutes until it cools down enough.
  • The quartz dab nail keeps heat for a long time and slowly cools down. This is it’s magic and what makes it create such a robust taste.
  • Time your cooldown so when you do find your perfect taste, you’ll know how long the process took to get to perfect temperature.

How long to heat quartz nail for dab?

  • Long story short, you should try to heat it up for 30 seconds to start.
  • If you’re in a really cold room, you may want to make up for that and heat up an extra 10 second.
  • Try to get the whole area heated up completely. If you aren’t getting good results, it could be that you’re underheating.
  • You’re going to want to wait for about a minute for the quartz nail to cool down until you use it.
  • Use a timer for the heat up and cool down process so you’ll know for next time what the ideal timing is.
  • Time your cooldown so when you do find your perfect taste, you’ll know how long the process took to get to perfect temperature.

How to clean a quartz dab nail

  • First, you’re going to want to soak the dab nail into a mixture of ISO alcohol and salt.
  • Create the mixture and put nail into mixture for about 15 minutes.
  • Remove and rinse the dab nail with warm water.
  • Make sure not to rinse with really cold or really hot water. Quartz is durable but rapid changes in temperature can cause it to shatter in some cases.
  • If there’s residue, scrape it off. You can use your dabber to do this.
  • Heat up the dab nail.
  • Dip Q-Tip into the ISO alcohol and salt mixture and rub it onto the dab nail. This gets rid of excess.
  • Use dry side of the Q-Tip to then wipe off excess alcohol.
  • Do this a few times until there’s no residue left.

How to dab a domeless quartz nail

  • The benefit to going domeless is that you can put more concentrate on your nail.
  • Dabbing with a domeless quartz nail will mean you have to be a bit more cautious.
  • You’re not going to have the dome contain the concentration if you accidentally spill over the quartz nail.
  • You may want to use a carb cap.
  • You’ll start by lighting your torch as normal.
  • Aim the flame right at the quartz nail.
  • Heat it up until it starts to turn red hot.
  • When the nail is hot, discontinue heating it.
  • Let the nail cool down. This should take about a minute.
  • Take your dab and put concentrate right on the nail.
  • Inhale and enjoy.

How to dab domeless nail

Pick up some wax or concentrate with the dab tool. Put it aside.

Heat the domeless nail with a torch for up to 40 seconds or until the quartz nail is red hot.

Wait for the nail to be at the temperature you prefer.

Take the dab tool with the concentrate on it.

Carefully put the end of the dabber into the domeless nail.

Wipe concentrate into the plate and cover with the carb cap.

Inhale as the nail vapes the concentrate or wax.
